Cold Weather Payments are dealt with by Job Centre Plus

Cold Weather Payments are made during periods of very cold weather.

You can get it if:

You or your partner are getting Income Support, Pension Credit, Employment and Support Allowance or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

If you get Income Support or income-based Jobseekers Allowance, you must also receive a pensioner or disability premium or have a child who is disabled or under the age of 5.

There is no need to claim - you will get a Cold Weather Payment automatically.

How much is it?

£25

Periods of very cold weather

These are when the average temperature at a specified weather station is recorded as, or forecast to be, 0°C or below over 7 consecutive days during the period from 1 November to 31 March.

The Department of Work and Pensions website gives details of postcode areas which have triggered a cold weather payment.
