This benefit is dealt with by Jobcentre Plus or The Pension Service, depending on your age. You can find your local office here.

What is it?

Your social services department can arrange a short stay in a residential care or nursing home if it will help you or someone who cares for you.

You may be able to get Income Support for a temporary stay in a home, but the rules are different

You may also be able to get Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit for your own home, if your stay is temporary. Check with your local council.

Can you apply?

To find out, contact your social services department, or in Scotland, social work department.
