The medication management specialists have a new disposable tray system for use in their automatic pill dispenser.
The disposable plastic tray, similar to a blister pack, will be pre-filled by a pharmacist and then be delivered to the user for placing in the dispenser. The disposable tray sits within the existing re-usable tray like a skin.
When all of the medication has been taken by the user, the disposable tray can safely be disposed of as recyclable plastic and a new pre-filled disposable tray inserted in the dispenser. This has a number of important benefits for the user, care agency and pharmacy:
• It will avoid the cost of multiple dispensers or multiple re-usable trays having to be provided for one user.
• It will avoid the cost and inconvenience of returning the dispenser or trays being returned to the pharmacist for
refilling.
• It will avoid the need for re-usable spare trays to be cleaned by the pharmacist.
Pivotell are showing their range of reminders and pill dispensers, including the pocket-sized Minitell and the Mem-x voice recorder, a memory aid designed for those with some memory loss due, for example, to early dementia.
