The Romachair is manufctured from 1" steel tubing, and is designed to carry patients weighing up to 190kgs / 420lbs / 30 stone in the standard version; 250kgs / 550lbs / 40 stone in the mediatric version; and 318kgs / 700lbs / 50 stone in the heavy-duty bariatric version.

It is coated with the company's own Romaplas coating which prevents microbial growth, including MRSA, Listeria, E-coli and Salmonella. All other components are also manufactured from materials that prevent microbial growth. This significant new development will be of particular interest to those involved in infection control.

The Romachair has a footrest that can be stored behind the forward-most point of the chair, removing the possibility of trapping the feet and lower leg between the footrest and the front castors. Unlike many other sanichairs, the footrest on the Romachair is large enough to accommodate both standard size and bariatric in comfort.
