Robin Tuffley, Total Hygiene Marketing Manager, explains, "We all have to go to the toilet, and do so up to eight times a day! It is vital therefore that such a basic, every day function is made as pleasant for all, regardless of mobility, and whether the user or carer. Having to be helped to toilet has a huge psychological impact on the user, and can place physical and emotional stresses on carers; we aim to deliver a solution that restores dignity, independence and privacy and optimises hygiene, yet still delivers modern styling."

The Clos-o-Mat Palma has achieved WRAS approval, making it the only 'wash and dry' toilet that can legally be connected to the mains water supply. Total Hygiene has also refined the range of accessories, to now include the Blue Wave Toileting System, which simply bolts onto the Clos-o-Mat to enable children as small as 76cm (2ft 5ins) to use the bathroom with as little aid as possible, and a choice of orthopaedic supports.

Equally, since the Clos-o-Mat is often used by more than one person regardless of mobility, the core Palma unit can be used both as a conventional toilet and with the 'wash and dry' facilities; to maximise flexibility, particularly in multi-user public or commercial environments, a height adjustable version, the Lima Lift, is now also available.

Further, Total Hygiene has expanded its support scheme to encompass a 'lifetime' concept; its specialists will help design and specify the toilet or bathroom to suit the individual needs and budget, from simple inclusion of grab rails, through incorporation of a Clos-o-Mat toilet, to a fully accessible convenience or bathroom including height adjustable basins, baths and changing tables to hoists and lifters. The company will not only supply, install and commission the equipment but then utilise its in-house engineers to maintain, service and repair the fittings throughout their life.
