This has to be the best way of making
a telephone call from a land-line!
Simply pick up the receiver and tell the phone who you want to speak
to - the voice dialler does the rest!
Nothing
could be simpler than making a phone-call with the Voice Dialler:
You want to phone someone.
You lift the receiver.
You reply to the voice query "name to dial, please" with the
person's name.
The number rings!
The dialler plugs between your phones and the BT wall socket (all cables
supplied). You do need to tell it the names of your contacts (up to 60
of them) and their telephone numbers by following the voice prompts before
you can ring them, but then the dialler can work with all the phones in
the house.
If you want to dial a number normally, press any of the number keys (or
*) when you hear the voice prompt. You will hear your normal dial tone,
and you can dial using the telephone keypad, as usual.
To access the main menu of options (to add or delete names, or to hear
the names in memory), press # after you have heard the voice prompt.
The voice recognition is very robust, and normally has no problems in
recognising the names you have given it, even on other telephones in the
house or spoken by other people, although the voice recognition is ostensibly
speaker dependent!

The best place for your dialler is close to where your main BT wall
box is located: then all phones in the house can benefit from voice dialling
- however, as the unit is powered, the dialler also requires an electrical
socket quite near (within about 6 feet), so if necessary you can locate
it elsewhere and even just on a specific phone.
To put in your numbers, go to the dialler main menu. If no names have
been stored, just lift the receiver, otherwise lift the receiver and press
#.
Simply follow the voice prompts. If you have difficulty reading, remembering
or dialling, this is where some assistance can be useful, but you must
be the person to speak the names.
You can put up to 35 digits in for each number, useful for international
numbers.
If, for any reason, power to the dialler is lost, the names and numbers
are retained until power is restored. While the dialler is unpowered,
you get a normal dial-tone when you pick up the receiver - i.e. there
is no loss of your telephone service.

This is the most amazing voice controlled device you will ever encounter.
It has all the functionality you would expect from a PDA but you never need to read or write anything.
Apart from the volume control, it has one button to push. All the rest, you do entirely by voice.
This feature-rich device is powered by a very strong Lithium-Ion based battery that can be fully charged
in less than four hours and can supply more then 10 working hours and more than 11 months(!) in standby mode
between each charging cycle.
TapMemo includes an earphone jack, a charging jack and a belt clip on its rear. The unit is also equipped
with a hidden reset button in case the user needs to perform a soft or hard reset.
On the next page, you can read the main features of TapMemo.

This was originally designed to enable an MP3 player to be played in the car. The stereo plug is plugged into the headset
socket of the MP3 player, and the car radio is tuned into the frequency that the device transmits on.
It occurred to me that this could be used for people who are becoming hard of hearing to allow them to listen to their
televisions without having to have the volume so high that it becomes a nuisance to other in the house.
What you do is: plug the transmitter into the headphones socket of your TV (this may be hidden under a flap below the screen),
switch it on, select one of the four frequencies. Now tune in a portable radio to that frequency, and put it close to where you
are sitting. You now have your own private speaker which you can adjust to your preferred volume, and place as close to your ear
as you like!
You can also use the transmitter to "Listen Again" to the BBC. This time, plug it into the headset socket of your
computer, and start playing the radio program you missed. Tune your radio in to the transmitter, and now you don't need to be
anywhere near your computer!
