Bathtime
Bathtime fun has not been a high priority for families with disabled
children - it's been hard enough to find suitable products at all. Now
the situation is beginning to change, and there are some well-designed,
attractive products to help make the bathroom an easier place.
Left is a tilt-in-space shower toilet chair that is both safe and
comfortable. The anatomically-shaped seat is very supportive, and it
can be tilted to different angles for easier showering. It is
height adjustable so that it can be used with most toilets, as well as
having an optional commode pan.
On the right, a powered lifting aid which lowers the child from the top level of the bath down into the water. The operation is gentle and stable, and a security harness and soft blocks hold the user comfortably in position. The backrest angle is adjustable and the whole lift separates into three sections for removal and storage.
A chair that forms the core of a bathing system (left) can be converted
as the child grows. Well positioned straps give comfortable secure support.
Bath and shower stands enable the chair to be raised to a height that
is comfortable for the carer.
This lightweight bathchair (right) comes in four different sizes and a range of bright colours. It is easily adjustable and folds flat for easy transportation.
