Easy Utensils for Easier Food Preparation

Food preparation can be made easier with the help of a few gadgets...

Image Of Superkettle A great alternative to a conventional kettle is the "SuperKettle", shown left, which heats water and maintains the temperature at just below boiling, so that it is ready whenever you want it to make a cup of tea or a hot drink - or to fill a hot water bottle.

No lifting or tipping, the water is dispensed by the touch of a button on top of the unit, so anyone with a weak grip, shakiness or any other condition that makes wielding a kettle tricky, can proceed with confidence!

image of bread board for one-handed cutting Image of board with a holder for bowl Opening jars, cutting bread, mixing, grating vegetables - are all much easier if they are held securely for you.

The board on the left sits on a work surface with non-slip feet, and has a built-in clamping system to hold a bowl or saucepan, so that mixing and whisking can be carried out one-handed.

On the right, a breadboard with guide/support for easier cutting.

image of special ergonomic cutting knife Image Of knork cutting Particularly suitable for people with rheumatism, because the grip gives good protection for the joints and relieves pain, the cheese slicer on the left has an angled handle that makes cutting tasks easier. The handle is softly shaped with support for the index finger. With the thumb resting on top of the grip, the cheese slicer can be balanced in the hand using minimal strength.

The finely serrated knives on the right have handles that are easy to hold, and are designed to cut effectively with a rocking motion that takes little strength.

jug kettle pic If you are using a kettle to boil water, whether it is a traditional or jug-shaped design, a kettle tipper will hold it secure while you pour, preventing the risk of spills and scalds.
