Straight Stairlifts

cumbria stairlift for straight staircasesChoosing the correct stairlift to suit your needs and the circumstances of your home requires very careful consideration, with time spent looking at the various options.

Help and advice on choosing the correct stairlift is available from a large number of sources, and a good starting point is your local authority social services department who will either be able to advise you or give you details of someone who can help.

The ‘Cumbria’ slimline stairlift from Lift Able could be the ideal solution to your difficulties climbing the stairs. It usually takes no more than about 2 hours to install and the ‘Cumbria’ is so compact that the rest of the family can still use the stairs the old way.

With its large comfortable seat and foot-rest, easy to operate controls, and a comprehensive range of special options, the ‘Cumbria’ slimline stairlift is perhaps the most advanced stairlift available today.

Curved stairlifts

Woman unfolding stairlift at foot of curved staircaseThe solution to your difficulties climbing the stairs where the stairs have turns or bends could be one of our curved rail stairlifts.

The well proven ‘Model 2000’ curved rail stairlift (shown left) uses a twin tube rail system to ensure a smooth ride and minimum intrusion into the stairwidth. The rail can be arranged so that the seat can be parked away from the stairs at the top or bottom.

A unique and easy to operate paddle switch is standard and can be fitted in either armrest; two remote control units are also supplied (wall mounted or handheld). The rail comes in two basic colours (or in any RAL colour as a special order); three seat types are also available in six colour options.

With additional features such as the Powered Hinged Track and the Powered Swivel Seat the Model 2000 is able to suit a wide variety of users' requirements.

Throughfloor Lifts

The VM30 – 56 range of Throughfloor Lifts are designed to carry one person plus wheelchair to a maximum of 3.5 metres floor to floor height. Installed in 2 to 3 days, the VM typically travels from ground floor living room to upstairs bedroom.

When parked upstairs, full use can be made of the living room space. Only the slim tracks positioned against a wall remain visible. Available in six different models to suit the widest possible range of applications, the VM series is specifically designed for total independence.

The illuminated in-car controls can be fitted on the left or right hand-side and optional remote controls enable full lift operation from the wheelchair. An internal ramp with gentle incline enables easy entry and exit. The free standing design does not require load-bearing walls and the right or left hand door opening option gives greater flexibility of installation locations. For added safety, an in-car telephone socket is provided as standard along with safety edges, sensors and an integral fire seal.

Commercial solutions

Melody short step liftSince the introduction of Part 3 of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) on 1st October 2004, it has become unlawful for service providers, landlords and others to discriminate against disabled people in certain circumstances. In particular, service providers may have to make 'reasonable adjustments' in relation to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access for disabled people.

Lift Able specialises in providing all types of lifts specifically designed for use by disabled and/or elderly persons. Working with clients, specifiers and architects we can provide an economical solution to public access problems. There are three basic types of public access lift available - platform stairlifts, vertical lifts and short-rise vertical lifts.

Shown left, the Melody short-rise vertical lift, designed for situations where there is a change of levels up to 3.6 metres in height. It is typically installed adjacent to a short flight of stairs to provide wheelchair access between levels.

Lift Able also supplies Step Lifts for domestic and commercial use, which are installed in place of, or over, the steps. When the lift platform is at the lower level, the platform incorporates steps so that pedestrian users can walk over the platform and up the steps.
