The SuperKettle

image of White super kettle No need to wait for the kettle to boil - with a SuperKettle you can make tea and hot drinks straight away, any time.

You'll be amazed by the simplicity and convenience of boiling water available at the touch of a button, when back from work or shopping, when you wake up, or when friends call in. Take the stress out of the TV ads break!

Fill it, switch it on, and forget it - until you're ready for a drink.

A SuperKettle is topped up with a jug of cold water, and involves no pouring of hot kettles - ideal for confined spaces, and for people who find lifting and pouring difficult. SuperKettles are much safer and more efficient than using a kettle-tipper.

A SuperKettle can save energy - the insulated walls and electronic control keeps water at the prefect temperature without creating steam or wasting heated water, and the walls are always safe to touch.

More about the SuperKettle

Image of a superkettle and teapot Function. SuperKettles are designed to be filled and left on continuously, so boiling water is available any time for hot drinks, 'instant' foods, filling flasks, speeding pasta or vegetable cooking, etc. They do not need to be emptied, just topped up with cold water at 'quiet' times when hot water is not needed for the short period of heat-up. Although they have a 'reboil' button, this does not speed up the heating, and is not required in normal use.

Discharge. There are two or three ways to obtain hot water from the SuperKettle depending on model: a touch switch on top of the unit, an automatic switch when a cup or similar is held under the outlet (stainless steel model only), and finally by a manually operated pump plate on the lid.

Filling. The SuperKettle is filled by lifting the hinged lid and adding water to the cavity. Depending on usage this is normally needed only once or twice per day, for example, at the end of the day so that it is immediately available the following morning.

Safety features. The SuperKettles are designed to be left on 24/7 in normal use. They have protection against boiling dry. Remember that like any electrical device, the Superkettle must be placed in a stable location where the cable cannot be accidentally pulled and where children cannot actuate it. The white model has a safety switch which must be pressed before the pump switch, and may be more suitable in situations where children may interfere with the kettle or where the dispense switch could be accidentally activated.

Other Features. Clearly visible water level gauge. Swivel base. Indicator lights for heat up and standby. Detachable lid.

Technical Information

Image of stainless steel superkettle Dimensions. The SuperKettle has a similar footprint to a traditional kettle. Remember that you will need room to lift the lid for filling. Water capacity is 3.2 litre (5.5 pint) for the stainless steel model and 3.0 litre (5.3 pint) for the white SuperKettle.

Power rating. 230-240 volts, 50 Hz a.c. Heat-up: 700 watts, stand-by/maintain temperature: 45 watts. The SuperKettle is electronically controlled and designed to be left switched on unless it is not required for several days. The low power consumption, less than 3 amps, also make the SuperKettle ideal for use on current-limited supplies such as in caravans or from suitable portable generators, and avoids the long wait for low wattage or gas kettles to boil.

Construction. The SuperKettle has a stainless steel internal chamber with the heating element mounted around it. This is surrounded by the external casing which provides an insulated cavity to reduce heat loss and provide the energy efficiency.

Heat-up. If completely filled with cold water, the SuperKettle can take up to 30 minutes to reach maximum temperature, both because of the quantity of water and the lower power consumption than high-speed kettles. However, if it is filled at the start or end of the day or at quiet times, the heating period will cause no inconvenience and the large capacity will provide many uses. The great benefit is the immediate availability of hot water without frequent filling of normal kettles and waiting for it to boil. The SuperKettle automatically adjusts its power use, and switches from standby to reboil if it cools or water is added.

Maintenance. The only maintenance required is to descale the interior of the stainless steel pot at intervals depending on the scale build-up. Full instructions for descaling are provided with the unit.

"Well what's to say? Ordered Sunday afternoon and delivered by 10.30 am this Tuesday morning as promised. Already enjoying the first cup of coffee! Having endured the Tefal One Cup I have to say there is just no comparison - very quiet, water quickly up to high temperature, no spluttering - and so simple to use. Easy set-up instructions and looks great. I would not hesitate to recommend to friends - in fact every house and office should have one - order yours today! Thanks again for the super fast service, great communication and a wonderful product!" Emma, Norfolk.

Lady Florence, Newark.

"Wonderful kettle, does exactly what you said it would, well built too. Also very prompt response from yourselves with minor delivery issue." Anthony, Gateshead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the water hot enough to brew tea?

A. Yes. Because the water is maintained a fraction below boiling point, the SuperKettle makes perfect tea, as well as other hot drinks.

Q. Why is the SuperKettle safer than an ordinary kettle?

A. You don't have to pour from the SuperKettle to get the water out: it is pumped out in a controlled way. The outside of the SuperKettle never gets too hot to touch. The SuperKettle does not emit steam which could accidentally scald.

Q. How quickly does the SuperKettle heat up from cold?

A. If the SuperKettle is fully filled with cold water, it usually takes a little less than 30 minutes to reach operating temperature. Usually it is topped up when partly filled, so heats much more quickly. Owners soon get used to refilling the Superkettle when they know they will not need boiling water for a little time.

Q. Does it not cost a lot to keep it on all the time?

A. No. Much of the energy in a traditional kettle is wasted because of poor insulation, in the water converted to steam before it switches off, and in the excess water which is heated and left in the kettle but not used. Because the inner chamber of the SuperKettle is insulated, most of the energy goes into the water, and no steam is produced, and very little energy is needed to keep it warm. It is estimated that maintaining the water temperature costs less than 7 pence per day (depending on electricity tariffs). But this is not all 'new' cost to you, because remember that you are probably heating more water than you need every time you boil your ordinary kettle and then letting it cool, whereas the SuperKettle retains most of the energy used. And during times when you are heating your house, the energy simply contributes an amount, albeit small, to your background heating requirement and offsets a bit of your central heating bill.

Q. Is it safe to leave switched on all the time?

A. The SuperKettle is designed to be permanently on. It automatically switches to high power when topped up with cold water, and then to low power once the correct temperature is reached.

Q. What if I want really hot water?

A. The standby temperature of the SuperKettle is a fraction below boiling point, so is ready for all uses including making tea. You can press the reboil switch to force it to boil for a few minutes if you wish, but this mainly creates steam.

Q. Won't the water go stale if left in the SuperKettle?

A. No. The water is so hot that it cannot deteriorate or support bacterial growth.
