Optima air-float system – the ultimate 'no-ripple' dynamic mattressOptima is a unique, reactive speciality mattress system offering clinically-proven pressure ulcer therapy and pain management.
During extensive evaluation at the University of Worcester, Professor Richard White, Professor in Tissue Viability, found, following equalisation of the mattress over a 16 minute cycle, that a massive 43% decrease in pressure was recorded - down from 39mmHg to 22mmHg.
With alternating mattresses you may have clients who have experienced feelings of nausea caused by the 'ripple' effect and who suffer disturbed sleep patterns caused by the constant noise of the pump operating. Optima functions in a totally different way so there is no alternating 'ripple' to contend with and the high-pressure pump not only is very quiet but operates only on demand.
• User weight range just 7kg to 300kg.
• Pain management to VAS scale 10.
• Suitable for severe grade 4 pressure ulcers.
• Patented double-cell structure, with individual cells easily replaceable.
• Large contact area.
• Reduces interface pressure and tissue strain to a minimum in all user positions.
• Separate cell systems react to body part weight, profile and position, distributing
the load over the whole surface. The tunnel-shaped pre-filled upper cells adapt exactly to different body contours.
The inner cells are inter-connected to form three adjustable zones.
• Zones are monitored by a pressure sensor which responds to user movement - the computerised controller
automatically and precisely adjusts cell pressures regardless of user weight.
• Built-in battery for continued use during transfers.
• Incorporates CPR facility.
• Incontinence cover as standard.
