The
Rotunda Transfer Platform
The Rotunda (right) helps to solve the problems of transferring patients whose mobility is impaired between beds, chairs and wheelchairs etc.
It reduces the physical strains placed on nurses and carers when supporting or turning movements must be performed. The turntable can be swiveled between five different positions, and has a locking device to hold it securely in place. Moving on high quality nickel chrome steel ballbearings, it is tilt-free and stable in operation.
The height to the handles is 30" (762 mm); overall height 40" (1016 mm). The Rotunda is also available to order with a handle height of anything up to 36" (915 mm), to suit the user.
The Rotunda has nylon wheels for easy manoeuvring. Made from steel with a tough white powder coating finish, it is a durable and functional transfer aid.
Maximum user weight is 250 kg.

Wide
frame Rotunda
There is also a Rotunda available with an extra wide frame (the one shown on the left also has an optional footguard).
The standard Rotunda has a width within the frame of 17" (432 mm). The wide frame provides an internal width of 20" (508 mm).
Total width from side to side is 26" (660 mm), which will pass through a British Standard size door. The depth from front to back is 23" (584 mm).
Maximum user weight for the wide frame Rotunda is 250 kg.

Adaptations
to the Rotunda
In addition to the standard, tall and wide frame options above, there are various other ways in which the Rotunda can accommodate different user needs.
Shown right is a transfer platform with padded knee support, and raising blocks to accommodate users of smaller stature.
The raising blocks are available in two heights: 3" (76 mm) and 5" (127 mm). They may be added together to give a maximum overall height increase of 8" (203 mm).

The footguard shown above can be ordered for either a standard or wide frame Rotunda. It is available in various heights, according to need.
Footguard price: £57.00 ex VAT
For
users with a weakened grip, or who are otherwise unable to use the standard
handles, a standard, tall or wide frame Rotunda can be ordered with gutter
supports. This type can be supplied with or without vertical hand grips
(shown left with grips).
Gutter support price: £90.00 ex VAT approximately
For any client who is able to weight-bear sufficiently, the Rotunda transfer platform promotes feelings of independence, by enabling them to assist in their transfers.
It is a valuable aid to reducing risk in manual handling situations.
