Most aids for home use are made from only foam materials which may provide some comfort but do little to lessen the possibility of pressure sores developing. Surprisingly, the skin can become vulnerable to pressure after only half an hour and even those who are chair-bound temporarily are at risk of developing sores. Speed Plastics' SupaSupport is a revolutionary, pressure-relieving cushion which is perfect for use in the home. Users can benefit from hospital-standard, pressure-reducing technology. You can buy on-line from SupaSupport (the site will open in a new window). How does SupaSupport work?
An optional easy-to-use LCD unit is also available which offers unique features: it allows the user to control the comfort level for optimum pressure relief, but also allows the user to adjust for their own personal comfort with easy-to-remember settings. This makes adjusting the cushion a simple operation for occupational therapists. The core cushion (shown below) is also surrounded by a combination of foam materials designed for optimum air circulation and effective moisture dissipation. The SupaSupport system is available in zipped or welded covers, the latter minimising cross-infection and hygiene problems. The use of waterproof materials with welded seams makes SupaSupport impermeable towards fluids but easily washable. Please note that the standard SupaSupport product sizes are suitable for users up to 127 kg / 20 stone. We also offer customised bariatric cushions. Request further information by email. How is SupaSupport constructed?
SupaSupport is available in a range of materials and support levels to provide maximum comfort. The products are supported by independent testing (PRESSURE MAPPING) through established centres of excellence to verify the exacting standards set by the company. Benefits of a Welded Cover: Welded covers are waterproof with welded seams so the corners have no folds. This reduces the potential for contamination. This type of cover can be easily wiped down, but cannot be removed. Benefits of a Zipped Cover: Sewn, zipped covers are waterproof with sewn seams with a zip for easy removal. There is the potential for contamination in the corners and near the stitching, but the cover can be machine washed.
