The benefits of hydrotherapy - the circulation of water and/or bubbles to massage the body and limbs - is a well-known form of therapy in mainland Europe. In England, however, despite the Romans introducing bathing and spas to the unsuspecting British all those years ago, hydrotherapy is still not well known.

How is hydrotherapy used?

A specific rehabilitation program is designed for each different medical condition. Certain clients only make use of a hydrotherapy program for a limited period of time, while others with more serious conditions utilise the sessions religiously. Hydrotherapy fills the gap between the physiotherapist and the patient's everyday life. A well-qualified hydrotherapist works closely with the patient's physiotherapist to create a safe and functional exercise program. The hydrotherapist continues treatment after the physiotherapist has completed the initial rehabilitation program, and under no circumstances replaces physiotherapy. The programs are designed to assist in activities of daily living (ADL Programs). It is very obvious that every special medical condition has to be treated on a personal basis.

Who can benefit from hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is for everyone at some point in their lives. Whether you are an injured athlete, have osteoporosis or are simply out of condition, the healing powers of water can help. Hydrotherapy is a special water program for specific medical conditions, and this makes it very different from a normal aqua class. Exercise in water is especially good for all joint injuries and osteoarthritis sufferers.

Hydrotherapy will not cure anything, but for a large number of people it does provide relief from the aches and pains of arthritis, rheumatism, stiff joints, back problems etc.

It is known that the massaging effect of the bubbles causes both a better blood circulation and a relaxation of the muscles, much to the benefit of the bather.

Some facts and figures:

• Millions of bubbles formed to the contours of your body
• Self drying
• No need for chemical cleaning
• More jets than a "whirlpool" system
• Installation option on all of our baths
