What did you say? Never heard of us? Well I never!!!

Actually that response is not that unusual. You see, a great many disabled people have a good moan about disabled parking, ‘Blue Badges’, Motability, the lack of any suitable hire vehicles, the problems of making holidays and travel bookings etc. but very few of them are willing to spend a measly £12 a year to finance the people who try to do something about these things. The end result is that we, the people trying to help you, suffer from falling membership, and falling finances. That is why we cannot spend as much time as we would like talking to people like The Department of Transport about the difficulties with the Blue Badge system. Why we cannot attend meetings of such organisations as those involved with the hotel and travel trade, this results in you having to ring a dozen hotels to find one with the facilities you require.

Of course we do a lot more than that, we act as a free information service, yes, free! So why join? Well, without those few who do support us the information will no longer be available. Of course we also get help from companies like Texxi, Southern Finance, Premia Mobility, HomePages Friends, to name but a few, sponsor us through direct financing as well as with ads in our in house magazine. Even so, without those members, who supply most of the funds, things would be a lot worse.

So, if you decide to invest in a membership, what would you get for your money? Well, the knowledge that, since nobody at the DMF actually gets paid, your money is going to pay our expenses so that we can visit places to talk with, encourage, cajole, and twist the arms of all those people who are responsible for all those things discussed earlier. At present you also get benefits such as discounts on servicing on your car, insurance, some holidays like Warner Breaks and Continental Hotels, and a free quarterly magazine.
